Descrição:
Titânio, com o símbolo químico Ti e o número CAS 7440-32-6, é um metal de transição conhecido por sua alta relação resistência-peso, resistência à corrosão e biocompatibilidade. Tem uma aparência cinza-prateada e é relativamente baixo em densidade em comparação com outros metais, tornando-se uma escolha ideal para aplicações aeroespaciais, automotivas e médicas. Titânio exibe excelente resistência à oxidação e à corrosão, particularmente em ambientes hostis, devido à formação de uma camada de óxido protetora em sua superfície. Tem um alto ponto de fusão e é capaz de suportar temperaturas extremas, o que contribui para sua utilidade em aplicações de alto desempenho. Titânio também é não tóxico e é amplamente utilizado em implantes médicos e próteses. O metal pode existir em vários alótropos, sendo o mais estável a estrutura hexagonal compacta (hcp) em temperaturas mais baixas e a estrutura cúbica centrada no corpo (bcc) em temperaturas mais altas. Além disso, Titânio pode formar várias ligas, melhorando suas propriedades mecânicas e expandindo sua gama de aplicações.
