Descrição:
Hólmio é um elemento de terras raras com o número atômico 67 e é representado pelo símbolo Ho. É um metal prateado que faz parte da série dos lantanídeos na tabela periódica. Hólmio é conhecido por sua relativamente alta susceptibilidade magnética e é um dos elementos mais magnéticos. Tem um ponto de fusão de aproximadamente 1.474 graus Celsius e um ponto de ebulição em torno de 2.545 graus Celsius. Hólmio é relativamente estável no ar e não se oxida facilmente, embora possa reagir com água e ácidos. É utilizado principalmente em várias aplicações, incluindo reatores nucleares, lasers e como dopante em certos tipos de vidro e cerâmica para melhorar suas propriedades ópticas. Compostos de Hólmio, como o óxido de Hólmio, também são utilizados na produção de ímãs especializados e em aplicações médicas, particularmente em cirurgia a laser. Devido à sua raridade e propriedades específicas, Hólmio é de interesse tanto na pesquisa científica quanto em aplicações industriais.
