Descrição:
Ítrio é um elemento metálico prateado com o número atômico 39 e é classificado como um metal de transição na tabela periódica. Faz parte do grupo dos elementos terras raras e é conhecido por seu alto ponto de fusão e excelente estabilidade térmica. Ítrio é relativamente estável no ar, formando uma camada de óxido protetora que impede a oxidação adicional. É tipicamente encontrado em minerais como xenotime e monazite e é extraído principalmente através de vários processos químicos. Ítrio exibe uma variedade de estados de oxidação, sendo +3 o mais comum em compostos. É utilizado em várias aplicações, incluindo fósforos para tubos de televisão colorida e luzes LED, supercondutores e como agente de liga em metais para melhorar a resistência e a resistência à corrosão.
