This compound has also been found in low levels in human tissues and fluids, where it may play a role in the development of cancer. 2-Bromo-5-methoxybenzaldehyde has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells by uv absorption and terminal alkynes. The anticancer activity of this compound is due to its ability to react with functional groups such as benzyl groups and other alkyl groups.
