Sílica, quimicamente conhecido como dióxido de silício (SiO2), é um composto que ocorre naturalmente e é abundante na crosta terrestre. É caracterizado por sua estrutura cristalina dura e é comumente encontrado em várias formas, incluindo quartzo, areia e vidro. Sílica é um sólido incolor, inodoro e insípido que é insolúvel em água e na maioria dos solventes orgânicos.
