4-Methyl-1,3-pentadiene is a chemical compound that is used in the synthesis of polymers. It has been shown to have x-ray crystal structures and reacts with copper chloride in the presence of trifluoroacetic acid to form a methyl ester. This reaction mechanism is believed to be due to an addition reaction between the copper chloride and the activated methyl group on the aromatic ring.
