4-Fluoro-3-[5H,6H,7H,8H,9H-[1,2,4]triazolo[4,3-a]azepin-3-yl]aniline (FTA) is a potent and selective inhibitor of the ion channels TRPV1 and TRPA1. It has been shown to inhibit the activity of these channels in both heterologous expression systems and native cells. FTA was originally developed as a tool for studying protein interactions with ion channels. It is also used as an anti-inflammatory agent in animal models of inflammatory pain. TRPV1 is activated by noxious or potentially noxious stimuli such as heat, acidity (low pH), capsaicin (the active ingredient in chili peppers), and inflammation.
