Methyl 4-hydroxybenzoate can be prepared by the reaction of p-hydroxybenzoic acid with methyl alcohol. The chemical formula for this substance is CH3CO2C6H4CH3. Methyl 4-hydoxybenzoate (MB) also shows genotoxic activity, which may be due to its ability to form intermolecular hydrogen bonding interactions with DNA or mRNA molecules.
