The x-ray crystallography studies conducted on this compound show that it is a mononuclear arene with a crystallographic symmetry of C2v. The oxidized form of this molecule shows high reactivity towards electron rich aromatic compounds, such as ferrocene, which may explain its ability to catalyze the oxidation reactions of electron poor arenes such as isoindolines.
