It has been shown to have memory-enhancing effects and also has a depressant effect on the central nervous system. 2-(Pentylamino)acetamide is found in food composition and this compound inhibits the activity of enzymes such as dopamine β-hydroxylase, gamma-aminobutyric acid transaminase, and fatty acid synthase. This drug also binds to receptors for glutamate, which may be involved in its therapeutic effects in inflammatory bowel disease.
