It is most commonly found in acidic pharmaceutical formulations. 5-Bromo-6-hydroxypyrimidine-4-carboxylic acid inhibits the growth of bacteria and fungi by acting as an enzyme inhibitor. The optimal parameters for this drug have been found using isothermal titration calorimetry on the enzyme gyrase in the presence of different concentrations of 3CMA.
