CAS:C-176 is a human monoclonal antibody that binds to the death protein and neutralizes its activity. It also inhibits angiogenesis by inhibiting the proliferation of endothelial cells. C-176 has been shown to reduce blood pressure in animal models. The mechanism for this effect is not known, but it may be due to its ability to inhibit the production of proinflammatory cytokines, such as tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) and interleukin-1β (IL-1β), which are stimulators of endothelial cell proliferation. C-176 also has regulatory effects on T cells, B cells, natural killer cells, and macrophages. It inhibits the coagulation process by reducing platelet aggregation and thrombin formation. This drug is an inhibitor of single-stranded DNA binding proteins and can be used in radiation therapy or as a stimulator of bone marrow stem cells in patients undergoing chemotherapy.
