This drug inhibits the growth of cancer cells by binding to specific cell surface receptors, causing them to detach from their surroundings and die. 4-Amino-3-hydroxybenzoic acid may have potential as a drug for treating metastatic colorectal cancer. The mechanism of action is not yet fully understood but it may be related to the inhibition of intermolecular hydrogen bonding and water permeability.
