Terbium(III) chloride hexahydrate is a water soluble source used for the preparation of metallic terbium, which is used in electronic devices and an additive for special alloy namely Terfenol-D. It is used in the preparation of complexes, which are used in the spectrofluorimetric determination of various chemicals in pharmaceutical formulations. Further, it finds use in the preparation of terbium nanotubes. This Thermo Scientific Chemicals brand product was originally part of the Alfa Aesar product portfolio. Some documentation and label information may refer to the legacy brand.
