Cadmium sulfide is used as a pigment in the chemical industry; for manufacturing of photoresistors, optical-electronic pairs, photodiodes, solar batteries and phosphors. Single crystals of cadmium sulfide are used for the preparation of optical devices operating in the infrared regaion of spectrum.
