Dess Martin periodinane is used to oxidize primary alcohols to aldehydes and secondary alcohols to ketones. It is also used as an oxidant for complexes with multifunctional alcohols. It is actively involved in the oxidation of N-protected-amino alcohols without epimerization and allylic alcohols. This Thermo Scientific Chemicals brand product was originally part of the Alfa Aesar product portfolio. Some documentation and label information may refer to the legacy brand.
