The VIP antibody is a monoclonal antibody that acts as an inhibitor of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF). It targets and neutralizes the activity of VEGF, a growth factor that plays a crucial role in angiogenesis, the formation of new blood vessels. By inhibiting VEGF, the VIP antibody prevents the binding of VEGF to its receptors on endothelial cells, thereby inhibiting blood vessel growth. In addition to its anti-VEGF properties, the VIP antibody also interacts with other growth factors such as epidermal growth factor (EGF) and natriuretic peptides.
