Descrição:Beta-sitostanol is a plant sterol that has been shown to promote follicular growth in humans. It binds to the surface of the skin and hair follicles and is absorbed into the bloodstream. Beta-sitostanol inhibits cholesterol synthesis by competing with cholesterol for the enzyme HMG-CoA reductase, which is required for cholesterol biosynthesis. It has been shown to reduce total serum cholesterol levels by up to 10% in clinical studies and may also have beneficial effects on body mass index, blood pressure, and insulin resistance. Studies have shown that beta-sitostanol does not affect the absorption of other fat soluble vitamins or minerals from food.
