2-(Diethylamino)ethyl 4-amino-3-butoxy-benzoate is a compound which has been shown to inhibit the binding of substance P to its receptor, the neurokinin-1 receptor. It was found in a model system that 2-(Diethylamino)ethyl 4-amino-3-butoxy-benzoate is able to reduce corneal edema and body formation by inhibiting the production of substance P. This compound also has anesthetic properties. The anesthetic effect of 2-(Diethylamino)ethyl 4-amino-3-butoxy-benzoate was determined using human serum. In vitro experiments have revealed that this compound is able to inhibit the binding of substance P to its receptor, the neurokinin 1 receptor, in a dose dependent manner. Additionally, it has been shown that this compound does not affect the binding of substance P at concentrations higher than those required for anesthesia.
