• Descrição: Succinic acid monobenzyl ester (SA-MBE) is a biosynthetic precursor to succinic acid, which is an important biochemical intermediate in the citric acid cycle. It has been shown that SA-MBE can be used as a wastewater treatment agent. The mechanism of action of SA-MBE is not well understood. However, it has been shown that this compound inhibits the synthesis of succinate by competitive inhibition of acetyl-CoA carboxylase, which is one of the enzymes in the citric acid cycle. Furthermore, this compound has been shown to have antimicrobial activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria and fungi.
