1-(Toluene-p-sulphonyl)imidazole (1TSI) is a labile ligand that can coordinate to lanthanide metals. It has been shown to be thermodynamically and kinetically stable in the presence of aldehydes, which are often used as reactive intermediates in organic synthesis. 1TSI can form supramolecular complexes with these aldehydes, leading to kinetic stabilization and the formation of new compounds with interesting properties. This ligand also binds to a wide range of organic molecules and can be used to synthesize many different types of compounds, including pharmaceuticals. 1TSI is also an excellent cyanosilylation agent.
