It binds to the urothelium, which is the lining of the bladder and urinary tract, or to cells in the intestinal lumen, leading to a reduction in inflammation. 8-Aza-spiro[4.5]decane also has been shown to be effective in treating depression, due to its ability to bind with serotonin receptors. This drug has fluorine in its structure which can cause alzheimer's disease or other neurodegenerative disorders when combined with organic acids such as fatty acid.
