Descrição:Iproniazid phosphate is a drug that inhibits the enzyme acetylcholinesterase, which breaks down the neurotransmitter acetylcholine. It can be used in the treatment of chronic schizophrenia, as well as other psychiatric disorders. Iproniazid phosphate has been shown to have an osteoinductive effect on bone tissue and to inhibit the growth of certain fungi. Iproniazid phosphate is also used as a chemiluminescent reagent in pharmaceutical preparations and as an inhibitor of malic acid uptake in animals. Iproniazid phosphate is rapidly hydrolyzed by esterases to iproniazid, which has been shown to have antidepressant effects.
