4-Hydroxy-N-(1,3-thiazol-2-yl)benzene-1-sulfonamide is a sulfonamide analog that has been shown to be effective for the treatment of bowel disease. The drug inhibits viral replication by interacting with the virus's RNA polymerase and blocking the formation of new viral particles. It also prevents the symptoms of radiation, dehydration, and cachexia. 4-Hydroxy-N-(1,3-thiazol-2-yl)benzene-1-sulfonamide has been found to be effective in treating inflammatory bowel disease and preventing pemphigus in animal models. This drug is also used as a preservative in some foods and detergent compositions. Although it can cause allergic reactions, there are no known side effects when taken orally.
