4-Isopropylbenzyl Alcohol is a hydroxyl compound that is an intermediate in the synthesis of glycol ethers. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of some microbes, such as methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), and also to have anti-inflammatory properties. 4-Isopropylbenzyl Alcohol has been used as an additive in skin creams, where it acts as an antimicrobial agent. It has also been found to be effective against infectious diseases caused by virus and bacteria, including HIV, herpes simplex virus, and influenza virus. 4-Isopropylbenzyl Alcohol is not active against fungi or protozoa.
