Thymol iodide is a molecule that is used as an antisolvent in the manufacture of occlusive dressings. It is also used as a polymerization initiator for the production of film-forming polymers and as a natural compound with anti-inflammatory properties. Thymol iodide has been found to be effective in treating congestive heart failure and pleural effusion, and it may also be useful in alleviating abdominal surgery pain, due to its δ opioid activity.
