2-Chlorophenetole is an organic compound that contains a nitrogen atom and a chlorine atom. It reacts with sodium formate to produce 2-chloroethanol and sodium chloride. The reaction time of this process depends on the concentration of amines. This compound is used in the production of dyes, pharmaceuticals, and plastics. 2-Chlorophenetole also has a reductive elimination reaction with aliphatic amines, which produces an aliphatic amine and an aromatic hydrocarbon.
