2-methyl-N-(2-methylphenyl)aniline is a neutral form of an organic compound that can be synthesized by the reaction of 2-methylphenol, carbon disulphide, and sodium amide. It has functional groups such as amines and ethers that can react with other molecules. The ruthenium complex formed from this compound has been shown to have a proton magnetic moment. This substance can also be used to make a light emitting diode. 2MPA is not susceptible to hydrolysis or oxidation and is chemically stable in the presence of copper oxide. When it reacts with an acceptor molecule, such as imidazole, it gives off light with a red shift compared to the emission spectrum of its ground state.
