N-Caprylic anhydride (N-CAA) is a chemical compound that belongs to the group of antimicrobial agents. It is used in the manufacturing of plastics, as well as in the production of caproic acid and amide. It is also used as a reagent in analytical chemistry and as a starting material for the synthesis of other compounds. N-CAA is metabolized by hydroxylation to form caproic acid and by oxidation to form carboxylic acids such as amide, acetic acid, or propanoic acid. The presence of N-CAA can be detected using luminescence immunoassay with hl-60 cells.END>
