Tetrahydrofurfuryl propionate is a polymerizable monomer that belongs to the group of polyolefin. It has a hydroxyl group, two nitrogen atoms, and one furyl group in its molecule. Tetrahydrofurfuryl propionate can be used as a patterning agent for polymers. The patterning process is done by using a polarizer and an analyzer in order to determine the orientation of the polymerized liquid crystal composition. The skeleton of the polymerized liquid crystal is composed of tetrahydrofurfuryl propionate, which has a ring structure. Tetrahydrofurfuryl propionate has been shown to react with silicon at low temperatures to form polymeric silicon dioxide (SiO).
