Octadecanal is a natural compound with linear calibration curve, which can be used for the analytical determination of octadecanal. Octadecanal may be found in biofuels, such as sephadex g-100. It is also found in the acetate extract obtained from ethanolamine and has a ph optimum of 8. The fluorescence detector is used to measure octadecanal concentration and it is extracted by solid phase microextraction. Octadecanal shows potent antimicrobial activity against bacteria and fungi, which may be due to its fatty acid content.
