3-(1,3-Benzodioxol-5-yl)-1-phenyl-2-propen-1-one is an active compound that has been used in the production of perfumes. It is a molecule that has a ketone and nitrate group. The ethylene and hydrofluoric acid react to form 3-(1,3-Benzodioxol-5-yl)-1-phenyl-2-propen-1-one when they are heated together. The beeswax is used as a solvent to extract 3-(1,3-Benzodioxol-5-) 1 phenyl 2 propen 1 one from the mixture. Through this process, acetone, unexposed benzene, and piperonal are formed.
