The chemical can react with hydrochloric acid to form a polarizer, which is used in optical instruments for measuring the refractive index of transparent materials such as glass and water. 1-Bromoundecane also inhibits the production of growth factors that are necessary for cellular proliferation. This drug may have biological functions as a fatty acid and hydrogen bond donor.
