Dichloroethene is a colorless, volatile liquid with a sweet, ether-like odor. It is used as a solvent and chemical intermediate in the production of other chemicals. Protocatechuic acid is an organic compound found in plants that can be synthesized from 2,2-dichloroethenylbenzene.
