It was shown to be cytotoxic to bovine fetal liver cells, inhibiting the activity of cyclic nucleotide phosphodiesterases and increasing the concentration of cytosolic calcium. Glycyl-DL-phenylalanine is an enzyme substrate, which undergoes x-ray diffraction data when subjected to a polymerase chain reaction. The structure and function of this drug are currently under investigation.
