1-Hydroxy-3,4-dihydroquinolin-2(1H)-one is a chemical compound that has been shown to have anti-cancer properties. It induces apoptosis in prostate cancer cells by inhibiting the growth of cancer cells and causing changes in cell morphology. The mechanism of 1-hydroxy-3,4-dihydroquinolin-2(1H)-one is not well understood, but it may be due to its ability to inhibit the production of proton pumps and reactive oxygen species. Other potential mechanisms include inhibition of DNA synthesis as well as mitochondrial dysfunction. The drug has also been shown to be active against breast cancer cells and melanoma cells.
