It has also been shown to have magnetic properties and can be used as a ligand in coordination chemistry. The crystal structure of this compound has been determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction and FTIR spectroscopy. 4,4',4''-Phosphanetriyltribenzoic acid's chemical formula is C(O)Pc(COOH)(COOH). The ligands are coordinated water molecules and the hydrated form of the lanthanide ion. This chemical is structurally related to other benzoic acids, with the exception of its phosphorus atoms being replaced by phosphanetriyl groups.
