Descrição

Sulfamethylphenazole is a natural antibiotic that has shown to be effective against a number of bacteria, such as Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Proteus mirabilis. It also has antifungal activity against Candida albicans and Aspergillus niger. Sulfamethylphenazole can be used for the treatment of viral and parasitic infections, such as influenza virus and malaria. This compound is also effective against protozoa, such as Plasmodium falciparum. Sulfamethylphenazole is an antiviral agent that inhibits the synthesis of RNA by inhibiting the enzyme ribonucleotide reductase. The drug is not active against Gram-positive bacteria (e.g., Streptococcus pneumoniae) or Gram-negative bacteria (e.g., Salmonella typhi).
