3-Methyl-1-pyrazolecarboxamide is a chemical compound with the molecular formula CHNOS. It is a colorless solid that can be obtained by condensation of cyanate and formaldehyde, which is then hydrogenated to give 3-methylpyrazolecarboxamide. This compound has been shown to have an inhibitory effect on denitrification, which may be due to its ability to bind iron in the absence of oxygen. The expression of this enzyme is regulated by iron levels, so 3-methyl-1-pyrazolecarboxamide may also have an effect on the regulation of iron levels.
