Calcium glycolate binds to the receptor site on the tumor cell surface and inhibits the proliferation of cancer cells by binding to amines. This drug also has a number of other properties, such as inhibiting inflammation in the gut and preventing bowel disease caused by d-glucoheptonic acid. Molecular modeling studies have shown that calcium glycolate interacts with pd-l1, which is expressed at high levels in bladder cancer cells, suggesting that this drug may be effective for treating bladder cancer.
