Glycyl-L-lysine is a signal peptide that has been shown to be involved in the pathogenic mechanism of diabetes. Glycyl-L-lysine is an amino acid that has been found at high levels in atherosclerotic lesions. Glycyl-L-lysine binds to growth factor β1 and insulin, which are proteins involved in blood glucose regulation. It also activates toll-like receptor 2, which may be due to its ability to stimulate the production of inflammatory cytokines. This protein can be used as a pharmacological agent for balloon injury or other types of tissue damage.
