N-(tert-Butoxycarbonyl)-3-bromoaniline is a crystalline compound that was synthesised by reacting 3-bromoaniline with imidazolium chloride and pyridine. It has been shown to form a dimer via intramolecular nucleophilic substitution. The crystal structure of N-(tert-Butoxycarbonyl)-3-bromoaniline was determined using x-ray diffraction, which revealed the presence of phenylenes at the termini of the molecule.
N-(tert-Butoxycarbonyl)-3-bromoaniline is an intermediate in the synthesis of various drugs including antihistamines, antibiotics and analgesics.
