Descrição:3-Amino-1-phenylbutan-1-ol is a stereoselective reducing agent that can be used for the reduction of aldehydes and ketones. This reagent is produced by the reaction of lithium metal with borohydride. It can also be synthesized from chlorobenzene and sodium borohydride in a two step process. 3-Amino-1-phenylbutan-1-ol has been shown to selectively reduce aldehydes over ketones, as well as reducing Alder–Ethers, Acetals, and Nitriles. 3-Amino-1-phenylbutan-1-ol has been shown to reduce lithium in the presence of chloride or cerium. The selectivity of this reagent has been attributed to its ability to form strong hydrogen bonds with lithium metal.
