• Descrição: Amperozide hydrochloride is an amide drug that blocks the 5-HT2 receptors in the brain. It is used to treat Parkinson's disease, which results from dopamine deficiency. Amperozide hydrochloride has been shown to increase the concentration of cortisol and decrease locomotor activity in rats with 5-HT1A agonists. This drug also has a stimulatory effect on the central nervous system, which may be due to its ability to activate dopamine receptors. Amperozide hydrochloride is not effective against infectious diseases such as malaria and tuberculosis because it does not cross the blood-brain barrier.
