• Descrição: Mivazerol is a drug that belongs to the class of 2-adrenergic receptor agonists. It has clinical relevance for the treatment of ischemic brain damage, and has been shown to be protective against cerebral infarction in animal models. Mivazerol also has anti-inflammatory effects, inhibiting the production of inflammatory cytokines such as TNF-α and IL-1β. Mivazerol may also help prevent heart failure after abdominal surgery by reducing the risk of developing congestive heart failure due to its ability to lower elevated blood pressure and increase cardiac output. It does this by stimulating the release of catecholamines from sympathetic nerve endings, which increases the rate of cardiac contraction. Mivazerol is a potent inhibitor of phosphodiesterase enzymes and fatty acid synthase, which are involved in regulating intracellular calcium levels. This drug can cause an increase in cytosolic calcium concentrations, which can lead to cell death through activation of apoptosis
