It also inhibits inflammatory bowel disease by reducing inflammation and hyperproliferation of cells. The drug has been shown to have a beneficial effect on bowel diseases such as Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. 1CPE also has anti-inflammatory properties which are due to its inhibition of serine protease activity.
