This compound has been shown to have antitumoral activity in vitro and in vivo. The mechanism of action involves the inhibition of DNA synthesis, which leads to the death of tumor cells. Methyl 4-amino-3-(benzyloxy) benzenecarboxylate has been found to be an analogue of clausine and has been used as a lead molecule for the synthesis of new anticancer agents.
