Diallyl terephthalate is a molecule that contains a hydroxyl group and methyl ethyl groups. It binds to the receptor site and can be classified as an allosteric ligand. Diallyl terephthalate has been shown to bind to the benzene ring of benzoate, which is a substrate for the film-forming polymer. Diallyl terephthalate can activate film polymerization by binding to the benzene ring and inhibiting its rotation. The activation energy for this process is low, making it an efficient reaction mechanism. This process also produces allyl carbonate as a byproduct.
