In magnetic resonance spectroscopy, tetraphenylgermane is useful because it emits light when irradiated with a magnetic field. This property makes it possible to measure the magnetic properties of the particle. Tetraphenylgermane has transport properties that are similar to glycol ethers, making it ideal for use in solvents and coatings.
