N-Benzylguanidine hydrochloride is a mitochondrial inhibitor that binds to the alkyl alkyl (AA) receptor on the surface of cells, which prevents integrin receptor binding and subsequent cell-cell interactions. It also blocks receptor activity by binding to the 5-membered heteroaryl group of the AA receptor. N-Benzylguanidine hydrochloride has been shown to inhibit cardiac muscle contractility in vivo and in vitro. This drug is an effective antihypertensive agent, reducing blood pressure through inhibition of cardiac contractility.
